You're picked up in Ylläsjärvi and driven about 25 minutes to a private wilderness cabin on the bank of the Ylläsjoki river.
From there, set off on snowshoes into the forest, tracking the signs of moose, reindeer, hare, fox and capercaillie in the snow.
Back at the cabin, fetch river water through a hole in the ice, fire up the wood stove and grill sausages in the kota — the traditional Lappish teepee — with a warm drink.
Finish the day in a real, wood-heated riverside sauna, with the option of a roll in the snow to cool off. Groups of up to 4 share the sauna at a time, so you're never in with strangers.
