You're picked up within about 5 km of Utsjoki village and fitted with extra winter clothes and a helmet before setting off.
You then travel by sled, towed behind your local guide's snowmobile, deep into the Paistunturi wilderness — one of the world's oldest mountain regions, its once-sharp peaks worn by three billion years of erosion into gentle rolling fells.
Along the way you watch for birds, wildlife and snow formations, while your guide explains why this untouched wilderness is such an important cultural landscape for the Sámi, who still practise reindeer herding, hunting and fishing here.
The 2-hour tour includes a stop for hot drinks and small snacks before you head back to the village.
