Before the tour, we carefully check weather forecasts, cloud coverage and Aurora conditions to choose the most promising direction for the night. Depending on the conditions, the route may take us far outside Rovaniemi in search of clearer skies and better viewing opportunities.
This self-drive option is perfect for travellers who already have a car and want to join a guided Aurora chase at a more affordable price while keeping the freedom of travelling in their own vehicle.
During the tour, you will follow the guide from location to location. Stops and driving distance depend entirely on the weather, so every night is different. Our goal is not simply to wait at one fixed spot, but to actively search for the best possible conditions.
The experience can last up to 8 hours, depending on weather conditions and the location of clear skies.
Please note that you are responsible for your own vehicle, fuel, insurance and safe driving. Winter driving experience is strongly recommended during the snowy season.
As with every natural phenomenon, the Northern Lights can never be guaranteed — apparently the Aurora still refuses to sign a contract with us — but we always do our best to maximize your chances based on the conditions of the night.
