Polar Explorer Icebreaker Cruise – Own Transport

Make your own way to the Axelsvik terminal, arriving at least 30 minutes before departure for check-in.

Board the icebreaker for a 3-hour cruise through the frozen Arctic waters of Lapland.

Follow a guided tour using an audio-guide app available in 16 languages, taking you through the engine room and up to the Captain's bridge.

Watch a short film in the ship's onboard cinema about icebreakers from around the world.

If you like, add an onboard lunch at the time of booking.

Step directly onto the thick sea ice during the cruise stop, and optionally suit up in a survival suit, provided onboard, to float safely in the icy water known as ice floating.

Commemorate the trip with a certificate signed by the Captain.

What to wear: Warm clothing in thermal layers, a warm jacket, hat, and gloves. Sturdy winter boots.

Documents: A valid passport or national ID, since the terminal is reached by crossing into Sweden.

Good to bring: A camera, with a waterproof case if you plan to try ice floating. Snacks for the cruise.

Survival suits for ice floating are provided onboard.
