Your private guide picks you up directly from your accommodation in Rovaniemi for the roughly 1.5-hour drive to Korouoma Canyon and nature reserve.
On arrival, you're fitted with ice-cleats that go over your own shoes, for safe footing on icy or slippery paths.
Hike down into the canyon, stopping at the best viewpoints to admire the towering frozen waterfalls — and possibly spot ice climbers on the frozen cascades.
The roughly 5 km trail winds through forest, into the canyon, and along the river and cliffs, with your guide adapting the pace to your group and sharing insight into Arctic nature and local traditions.
Midway, stop for a wilderness barbecue break with a freshly grilled burger over an open fire (afternoon spring departures get a sweet snack instead).
After the hike, return to Rovaniemi with the memories of your day in Korouoma.
