Experience the timeless Arctic tradition of snowshoeing on this guided adventure, exploring Lapland’s snowy landscapes and reconnecting with nature in a truly authentic way. Snowshoeing, once essential for Arctic survival, has a rich history rooted in northern cultures, making it both a cultural and adventurous way to travel through winter terrain.
After being picked up from your hotel or accommodation in Rovaniemi, we’ll drive to a scenic Arctic area where your guide will teach you how to put on and use the snowshoes. You’ll quickly feel confident walking across the snow while enjoying the peaceful beauty of the surrounding forests and viewpoints. In some areas we may follow a prepared trail for comfort and safety.
As you walk, your guide will share insights about the region’s wildlife, traditions, and natural wonders. Halfway through, we’ll stop to warm up around a cozy campfire, where your guide will demonstrate traditional fire-lighting techniques using flint and steel. You will also have the chance to try it yourself in a safe, guided, hands-on way. Then we’ll relax by the fire with grilled sausage (vegetarian option available on request) and hot drinks, surrounded by the quiet stillness of Lapland’s wilderness.
lers with a moderate fitness level, this experience combines outdoor activity with cultural immersion, offering a memorable way to enjoy Lapland in winter.
