Ice fishing is winter fishing at its most traditional, offering a peaceful escape into the heart of Lapland’s wilderness. Your experience begins with a comfortable pick-up from your hotel or accommodation in Rovaniemi, followed by a scenic drive to a frozen lake surrounded by untouched Arctic landscapes where silence and nature take center stage.
Once at the lake, we will choose a promising spot on the ice. Your guide will teach you how to drill your own fishing hole and share traditional techniques and tips to increase your chances of a catch. But ice fishing is not just about catching fish. It is a calming and mindful activity that invites you to slow down, breathe the crisp Arctic air, and truly connect with nature.
Throughout the experience, you will be immersed in the serene atmosphere of Finnish Lapland. Whether or not the fish bite, you will enjoy the beauty of the snowy environment, the crunch of ice under your feet, and the quiet rhythm of the wilderness.
To finish, we will warm up by the fire and enjoy a traditional snack of grilled salmon, Finnish bread, and hot drinks. This simple meal is the perfect end to a genuine Arctic experience. Please remember to dress warmly with proper winter gear including insulated boots, a hat, gloves, and layered clothing to ensure a comfortable outing.
