After pickup from your accommodation, you'll be given winter clothing and boots, then driven about 20 kilometres north of Rovaniemi, over the Arctic Circle.
A short 5-minute walk through the Arctic forest brings you to a frozen lake, where your guide shows you how to drill your own hole in the ice and teaches the basics of ice fishing.
While you fish, your guide prepares a campfire on the shore and serves typical Finnish snacks and hot drinks, answering your questions about life in the Arctic.
Catch a fish of decent size, and your guide will cook it straight over the fire to add to the day's menu; undersized fish are returned to the ice unharmed.
Groups are limited to 8 people, so your guide can focus on you throughout the trip.
