After pick-up and a drive around 20 kilometres from Rovaniemi, your guide leads you into the forest. With snowshoes fitted and a quick lesson in how to use them, you head out across the quiet, snowy landscape.
At the frozen lake, your guide helps you drill your own hole in the ice and teaches you the basics of ice fishing. While you wait for a bite, your guide chops wood and builds a campfire, serving typical Finnish campfire snacks and hot drinks.
If you land a decent catch, your guide will cook it over the fire and add it to the day's menu (undersized fish are released unharmed). Afterwards, snowshoes go back on for the walk back to Rovaniemi.
Groups are limited to 8 people maximum, keeping the experience personal and the lake's silence intact.
