Two visits in one tour to meet the Arctic animals!
Reindeer is probably the most iconic animal of Lapland, it has played a significant part in local traditional lifestyle. Meeting those lovely semi-wild animals is always a unique experience for anyone visiting Rovaniemi, especially in summer & autumn!
The herders have been living in this area for approximately four centuries and will be delighted to welcome you for a visit of their farm. This is then a perfect opportunity to take a dip into local culture, traditional lifestyle while learning about reindeer husbandry.
As it is the only visit of the day, you will also get the chance to feed the reindeers directly from your hand with some of their favorite food. This is a great chance to approach the animals too, as reindeer are still very wild.
After this great time at the farm, your guide will continue your journey to Ranua to see other iconic animals of the Far North. A stop will be made to enjoy a tasty buffet lunch in the restaurant before heading to Ranua Wildlife Park.
Located one hour away from Rovaniemi, the Ranua Wildlife Park is the northernmost wildlife park in the world. It consists of approximately 50 wild animal species and 200 individuals. In the park, it is possible to see polar bears, brown bears, wolves, wolverines, lynxes, predatory birds, otters, wild boars, swans, and so many others.
The park is Lapland’s leading tourist attraction for families, groups with children and animal-lovers all year round. The park is also part of different European programs for the protection of endangered species and takes care of the well-being of the animals.
Accompanied by your guide, you will wander along the 2.5km gentle path through the peaceful forests that takes you from one animal habitat to another. Your guide will provide you with Information about each animal and help you take some pictures if you would like to.
At the end of the visit, you will return to Rovaniemi (around 16:00).
