Reindeer is probably the most iconic animal of Lapland, it has played a significant part in local traditional lifestyle. Meeting those lovely semi-wild animals is always a unique experience for anyone visiting Rovaniemi!
We offer you two options to live a proper authentic reindeer farm experience.
OPTION 1: THE MORNING FARM VISIT
Enjoy a complete visit of an authentic reindeer farm, meet the herders and their animals, learn about their lifestyles and reindeer husbandry. This is a great chance to approach the animals, as reindeer are still very wild.
In winter, as soon as we have enough snow, you will have the opportunity to practice your driving skills with a self-driven short sleigh ride of 400-600 m (around 2-3 min).
We recommend this option: this option allows you to have a complete experience of the reindeer farm. Although the safari is very short, you will learn more and spend more time with the animals. In option 2, the safari is longer but the visit itself is limited.

OPTION 2: THE LONG SAFARI
If you would like to enjoy a long reindeer ride safari (around 35 min), this option is your best choice!
As you arrive to the reindeer farm, you will be introduced to your own reindeer and sleigh. A herder will always be with you and will lead the caravan (please note that a self-driven ride is not posible on longer distances because reindeer are semi-wild animals).
Reindeer sleigh rides were traditionally a way of transportation for loads and passengers in Lapland. Nowadays, certain skillful herders continue training the best elements of their herds to perpetuate this tradition.
As you are enjoying a romantic ride, you will go through some beautiful forests and other typical snowy landscapes of Lapland.
After the ride, you will enjoy a lovely time at the farm, where herders may answer all your questions about reindeer husbandry.
