Wild Berry & Mushroom Picking, Private Tour

Your guide leads you into the forest at the Happy Fox farm or its Lappish surroundings to taste and pick seasonal berries or wild mushrooms, depending on the time of year.

Along the way, you will learn about the natural goods of Lapland, the health benefits of berries and herbs, and traditional methods for preparing and preserving your harvest.

The tour finishes with a berry pie, coffee, and tea, guided throughout by a local guide with real knowledge of the arctic nature.

Berry seasons in the Rovaniemi area

• Bilberry: mid-July to early September
• Cloudberry: mid-July to late August
• Crowberry: late July to late fall, until snow
• Bog bilberry: late July to late September
• Lingonberry: early September to mid-October
• Cranberry: late September to late fall, until snow

Mushroom season varies by species and is roughly divided into spring, summer, and fall, with most picking happening in midsummer and fall.

What to wear

Dress for the outdoors and check the weather forecast, a rain coat can come in handy, though we provide rainwear (ponchos) for all guests.

Footwear

Choose shoes suited to wet terrain, as the ground underfoot can be damp.
