Day 1: Hetta. After pickup from your chosen departure point (Rovaniemi, Kittilä, Levi, or Ylläs) and lunch in Hetta, you set off across the frozen Ounasjärvi lake and into the white forests of the park, watching for animal tracks as the trail climbs into the hills. The day covers around 16km before you reach your first wilderness hut, where your guide prepares dinner.
Day 2: Sauna time. After a hot breakfast, you hike around 16-18km toward the valley beyond Ounastunturi and Tappuri, with a snack break by an open fire along the way. Your second hut has a surprise waiting — a wilderness sauna to warm up in after the day's walk.
Day 3: Into the fells. Depending on conditions, you and your guide choose either the fell-top route or the valley ski trail, covering around 13-15km before reaching a wilderness hut set between two fells.
Day 4: Arrival in Pallas. A final 10km hike along the fells brings you to the Pallas ski resort at the foot of Laukukero hill (762m), completing the roughly 55km trek. You're driven back to your departure point with a stop for lunch on the way.
