Spend a heartwarming day with Lapland’s most iconic animals on this guided Arctic safari from Rovaniemi. Visit a traditional reindeer farm with a 7th-generation herder, enjoy a peaceful sleigh ride, and meet friendly huskies at a small family-run kennel where you’ll experience an exciting 10 km husky safari through the snowy forest.
This is one of our most popular experiences and the best combo we’ve designed for a day trip involving both reindeer and huskies. If you’re wondering whether to book a longer or shorter sleigh ride, our recommendation is clear: the 10 km self-drive husky safari is the most thrilling option, as it’s faster, more hands-on, and incredibly fun. As for reindeer, we suggest the 800 m ride at the farm, which gives you time to enjoy their calm pace and the peaceful surroundings without needing a longer ride.
Your journey begins with a comfortable pick-up from your accommodation in Rovaniemi. Our first stop is a traditional reindeer farm, where you’ll be welcomed by a local herder and introduced to the life and culture of reindeer husbandry. Feed the reindeer, hear fascinating stories around the open fire, and enjoy a peaceful 800-meter sleigh ride through the forest. Hot drinks and Lappish snacks are served beside the fire to keep you warm. During this gathering, the herder will also share insight into daily life with the reindeer, traditional practices passed down through generations, and interesting facts about the animals’ role in Lapland’s culture and ecology. This authentic visit provides a deeper understanding of the strong connection between local people and their animals.
Next, we’ll travel to a cozy husky kennel, where excited dogs await to take you on a 10 km sled ride through the Arctic wilderness. This ride is perfect for couples, families, and friends: one guest drives the sled while the other sits and enjoys the ride, with the option to switch halfway. After the ride, relax by a warm fireplace while learning about life with sled dogs and, if you’re lucky, meet playful puppies raised on the farm.
After a day filled with connection, laughter, and unforgettable Arctic moments, we’ll bring you back to your accommodation in Rovaniemi, tired but full of beautiful memories.
