Reindeer herders in Lapland have traditionally spent the night outdoors during their reindeer husbandry work. In Porovaara you too can spend the night in an authentic reindeer herders' lean-to (laavu), right in the middle of a reindeer pasture — an experience that combines Lapland's magnificent nature with an ancient way of life.
You'll sleep in a warm reindeer-hide sleeping bag, the same kind herders have always relied on in the Arctic night, admiring the Lapland sky directly from your sleeping place while a campfire keeps you warm.
Porovaara is privately owned, so you'll stay in complete privacy, with your guide present at all times in a nearby cottage.
In the morning, wake up to fresh, frosty air and start the day by feeding the reindeer that slept under the same sky, then enjoy a traditional Lappish breakfast by the campfire.
