Your guide leads you deep into the forest to a traditional wilderness cabin with a log sauna — no electricity, no running water, just a small lake and complete peace, perfect for disconnecting from it all.
Your guide lights the wood-burning stove and shows you the Finnish way to sauna. Ice conditions permitting, an ice hole (avanto) can be opened in the lake for a bracing dip between sauna rounds.
Sauna towels, soap and birch tar oil are provided — bring a swimsuit, or sauna the traditional Finnish way. Your guide prepares a local snack while you relax in the steam, always with full privacy.
Departure is around 19:00, with later starts possible in autumn and late winter to boost your chances of spotting the Northern Lights — the lake's dark, northern setting offers great conditions, though sightings are never guaranteed. The whole experience takes about 3.5 hours including transport, with roughly an hour in the sauna.
You can add a wilderness dinner — a hearty Finnish soup with warm drinks and sweet pastries, served in the cozy cabin while you steam.
