After pickup and being given warm clothes, you're driven to an authentic, family-run reindeer farm that's been in the same family for 5 generations, located away from Rovaniemi.
At the farm you meet, greet and feed the reindeer before being introduced to your own reindeer and sleigh for a 2 km ride (around 20 minutes). A herder always leads the caravan — reindeer are semi-wild animals, so self-driven rides aren't possible over longer distances.
After the ride, you spend time at the farm where the herders and your guide answer questions about reindeer husbandry, and enjoy pancakes cooked over an open fire (a vegan option is available on request).
You can stay a little longer to take photos, browse souvenirs or simply enjoy the farm's atmosphere before your guide drives you back to your accommodation in Rovaniemi.
