Each early summer, dozens of reindeer calves are born at Porovaara and spend the season growing up in the peaceful forest with their mothers. On this reindeer farm visit, you'll see the calves and their mothers up close in their natural surroundings — watching them run, play and explore as they learn to live in Lapland's nature.
It's remarkable how quickly they adapt: a reindeer calf can stand on its own just 30 minutes after birth. Porovaara itself is a peaceful place, filled with birdsong, fresh air and reindeer wandering nearby — a calm, relaxing slice of Lapland summer.
The farm is just 20 minutes from Rovaniemi city centre and open from 1 June to the end of August, making it an easy addition to any summer visit.
