Pickup in Rovaniemi. Your outdoor guide picks you up in Rovaniemi and drives around 1.5 hours to the Korouoma nature reserve.
Into the canyon. From there, you'll hike roughly 5km down into the canyon, through pine forest and along the river and cliffs. In summer and autumn the winter's frozen waterfalls give way to dramatic rock formations and picturesque scenery, and your guide shares their knowledge of Arctic nature and Lapland along the way.
Lunch by the fire. Partway through, stop for a Finnish barbecue lunch cooked over an open fire.
Auttiöngäs Waterfalls. On the way back to Rovaniemi, you'll stop at the famous Auttiöngäs waterfalls for a short walk to the viewpoint — a longer hike to the observation tower can also be arranged.
The 5km canyon hike includes some tricky sections and calls for reasonable fitness and confident walking over long distances; it's not recommended for children under 6. Korouoma is a protected nature reserve and bird-nesting area, so drones, picking and pets aren't allowed — we run just one small-group departure a day (max 8 travellers) to keep it low-impact.
