Drive about 3.5 hours from Rovaniemi to a log cabin hide deep in the Lapland forest, where wild brown bears come to feed, play, and bathe at the nearby Bear Pond — this is the northernmost bear-watching site in Finland, set right in the animals' natural habitat.
The season runs from 1 May to the end of September, and thanks to the far-north location you'll have light through the summer nights. Each year mother bears bring their cubs to the pond, and more than a dozen individual bears can visit in a single night. Your guides share stories about the visiting bears and brown bear behaviour throughout the watch.
Golden eagles are frequently seen soaring over the area too, so keep your camera close. Bring your own gear for the best shots, or take home images captured by your guides.
