Your guide begins with the canoeing basics — paddling, steering, and what to do if you capsize — starting on calm, island-protected water.
As you paddle toward Rovaniemi, your guide points out the town's landmarks along the way, including the Arktikum Museum, Kemijoki and Ounasjoki rivers, Ounasvaara, the Lumberjack Bridge, the Rovaniemi beach, and the church.
You stop at Kotisaari island, once a stronghold for lumberjacks, before continuing to the Local Heritage Museum of Rovaniemi on the riverbank.
Inside the museum, you step back in time to a local farmhouse from a hundred years ago and see exhibits on salmon fishing, cattle farming, hunting, and forestry, alongside one of the first Bibles printed in Finnish and a photography exhibition on Rovaniemi's history.
The full tour takes around 3 hours 30 minutes, including transportation, canoeing instruction, about 90 minutes of paddling, and the museum visit. Groups are limited to 8 people.
