Spend a peaceful day exploring the scenic Auttiköngäs Nature Trail, a hidden gem located about an hour from Rovaniemi. This guided day trip includes a refreshing forest hike, views of one of Lapland’s most picturesque waterfalls, and a relaxing outdoor BBQ.
Your day begins with a comfortable pick-up from your hotel or accommodation in Rovaniemi. After a short drive through the countryside, we’ll arrive at Auttiköngäs Nature Reserve, part of the Southern Lapland old-growth forest conservation area. Known for its wooden trails, tall trees, and the roaring Auttiköngäs waterfall, this area offers a peaceful and beginner-friendly hiking experience in untouched Arctic nature.
The hike is about 3.5 km and follows a marked circular trail that includes a scenic suspension bridge, forested paths, and wooden stairs that lead to beautiful views of the waterfall. Along the way, your guide will share interesting facts about the local nature, wildlife, and history of the area.
After the hike, we’ll take a break by the fire and enjoy a relaxing outdoor BBQ. You’ll be served grilled chicken, zucchini, Finnish flatbread, and refreshing berry juice, all freshly prepared by your guide at a cozy forest fireplace.
This tour is ideal for nature lovers, families, and those looking for a relaxing half-day adventure in Lapland’s outdoors. We recommend wearing comfortable outdoor clothing, hiking shoes, and bringing mosquito repellent, especially during summer months.
