Arctic Winter Fishing

The adventure takes you onto a frozen lake, where you are introduced to traditional Finnish ways of winter fishing.

You go through and empty fishing traps set under the ice — nets, fyke nets, and fish traps.

You get the chance to try ice fishing yourself, and explore the underwater world beneath the ice using an underwater camera.

The 3-hour experience ends with lunch.

What to bring

Bring warm clothing according to the weather, plus extra layers, a beanie and gloves. This activity involves little movement, so warm clothes and shoes matter. Sunglasses are useful in sunny weather.

Duration & group size

The experience lasts about 3 hours. Groups range from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 16 people.

Availability

Runs 1 November – 20 March on Mondays and Fridays; other days and times can be requested for groups.

Pick-up

Pick-up from the Pyhä area costs an extra €10/person (pick-up 9:15–9:30); from the Luosto area an extra €20/person (pick-up 8:50–9:10).

Booking conditions

Cancellations made less than 7 days before the event are charged a 100% fee; cancellations less than 14 days before are charged 50%.
