Rovaniemi – Arctic Explorer Icebreaker Cruise Experience

Step aboard the Arctic Explorer for a journey through the frozen sea ice off Rovaniemi, cutting through thick ice on a 2.5-hour cruise.

Explore the icebreaker at your own pace with an E-Guidebook in 16 languages, covering the engine room and the science of icebreaking.

Warm up at the small onboard cafe, then step directly onto the thick sea ice for a quiet moment surrounded by silence and snow.

If you like, suit up in a thermal flotation survival suit and float safely in the icy water around the ship.

Commemorate the trip with an official certificate signed by the Captain, before a scenic drive back to Rovaniemi.

• Duration: 8 hours and 30 minutes
• Difficulty: Easy

What to wear: Warm clothing in thermal layers, plus a jacket, hat, gloves, and winter boots.

Documents: Bring a valid passport or national ID — the cruise crosses the border from Finland into Sweden.

Good to bring: A camera (a waterproof case is a nice extra) and snacks, since it's a long day.

Survival suits for ice floating are provided onboard.
