Day 1 — Reindeer, Polar Dogs & Bear-Watching
Start at a traditional reindeer farm on the shores of a quiet lake, where herders welcome you to feed the reindeer by hand and learn about Arctic reindeer husbandry over a fireside chat with cookies and hot drinks.
After lunch by the open fire, visit a small, ethical kennel home to around 45 friendly polar sled dogs, where the resident mushers share their passion for the dogs and their lifestyle.
As dusk falls, your guide leads you to a remote bear-watching cabin. Settle in behind the hut's large windows with cold snacks and drinks, and wait quietly with a professional bear-watcher as wild bears emerge from the surrounding bogs — a truly once-in-a-lifetime sight. Bunk beds, warm sleeping bags, and dried toilets are provided for your overnight stay; wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, so some patience is part of the experience.
Day 2 — Ranua Wildlife Park
After a light breakfast, head to Ranua, the world's northernmost wildlife park, to see polar bears, arctic foxes, eagles, owls, moose, wolves and more with your guide. A buffet lunch is included before you return to Rovaniemi in the early afternoon.
