Your guide starts with a short theory and safety briefing before fitting you with a warm drysuit, hood, wetsuit gloves and a PFD — no floating experience required.
Step down into a frozen Pyhä lake and let the drysuit support you as you float on your back beneath the dark, quiet Arctic sky, ideal for spotting stars, constellations, snowfall or the northern lights (not guaranteed).
Afterwards, warm up in a traditional Finnish lakeside sauna, with the option to try ice swimming and feel the contrast between the sauna's heat and the icy water, all while continuing to watch the sky.
The experience runs about 2.5 hours and takes place from 2 November to 19 March, Monday to Friday, with optional pick-up available from Pyhä or Luosto for an extra fee.
