Hidden within a secret cove along the Baltic Sea is a beautifully designed Finnish floating sauna moored just outside the city centre. Legend says a resident sauna elf lives on board — the boat is equipped with a bar fridge for cold drinks, a relaxing lounge, and a stunning balcony with views across the Baltic Sea.
The meeting point is Cafe Regatta, a well-known café on the seashore near the Sibelius Monument. Arrive a little early to enjoy a cinnamon bun or hot chocolate with a view over the Baltic Sea — your guide will be seated near the entrance 15 minutes before the start time, holding a Finnish flag.
From the café it is a short walk to the floating sauna, where your guide gives a welcome and safety briefing. Changing rooms and toilets are available on board, and the location is safe to visit alone, even after dark in winter.
During the experience you will alternate between the sauna, a refreshing dip in the Baltic Sea, and relaxing in the lounge or on the balcony with a drink in hand (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) — in a small group of up to four guests. A few other guests who are not part of your tour may also be aboard the boat, and no one goes without swimwear.
Travelling with someone who won’t join the sauna? They can wait nearby at the café, at a playground near the Sibelius Monument, or at Töölö library, which has a toddler play area and is surrounded by cafés.
